Testing season is here and if you’re anything like me, you’re looking for ways to support students that go beyond “just try your best.” Students don’t just need strategies. They need confidence. They need routine. They need a little bit of magic. So instead of adding more stress, what if we created a simple, engaging daily ritual that helps students feel prepared, calm, and capable?

Enter: 10 Days of Disney Testing Magic

This low-prep activity gives students one small focus each day leading up to testing, grounded in Disney themes they already love.

The Counselor Clubhouse Take

If we want students to show up as their best selves during testing, we have to help them feel ready, not just be told they are.

This activity works because it:

  • Builds a predictable daily routine

  • Reinforces test-taking strategies in bite-sized ways

  • Supports emotional regulation

  • Keeps engagement HIGH (because Disney, duh!)

It’s simple. It’s meaningful. And it works.

The Top 10 Disney Testing Magic Moments

  1. You’re in Control (Inside Out)

Help students recognize they can manage their thoughts and reactions.(Yes, even during testing!)

  1. Just Keep Swimming (Finding Nemo)

How to help students with perseverance.

  1. Be Prepared (The Lion King)

Set the tone early, sleep, breakfast, and calm mornings matter more than last-minute cramming.

  1. Discover Your Power (Frozen)

Confidence isn’t given, it’s recognized. Students already have what they need.

  1. Think It Through (Big Hero 6)

Slow down. Reread. Eliminate wrong answers. We’re building strategic thinkers, not fast guessers.

  1. I Am More Than… (Moana)

Detach identity from performance. This one is BIG for anxious students.

  1. Set the pace (Cars)

Fatigue is real, teach stamina and mental endurance.

  1. Set the Goal (Princess and the Frog)

Effort-based goals help students stay focused and motivated.

9. Try Again (Frozen II)

Getting stuck isn’t failure, it’s part of the process. Teach students to pause and re-approach.

10. Celebrate Yourself (YOU!)

Reflection builds confidence. Students need to see their growth, not just their scores.

How to Use This in Your Classroom (or Counseling Program)

Here’s the magic: it takes less than 3 minutes a day.

  • Give each student the worksheet

  • Introduce one theme each morning

  • Read the quick script (it's included!)

  • Let students write, draw, or reflect

That’s it.

No prep. No overwhelm. Just consistency + connection.

Take It Home Option (Parents)

This also works beautifully as a 10-day countdown at home:

  • Talk through one idea each night

  • Pair it with a calm routine (snack, wind-down time, etc.)

  • Reinforce confidence without pressure
