I am so excited to officially share that Storybook SEL Volume 1 and Volume 2 are now available!

These lessons were created with one goal in mind: to make social-emotional learning meaningful, engaging, and a little more magical using the stories we already know and love.

Each Storybook SEL lesson is thoughtfully designed to be ready-to-use and flexible for real classrooms. Every lesson includes:

  • 2–3 clear objectives

  • A guiding question to anchor learning

  • Key vocabulary

  • Aligned ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors and CASEL competencies

  • Counselor scripts (with clip and no-clip options )

  • Discussion questions to spark meaningful conversations

  • A low-prep activity

  • “The Next Chapter” reflection prompts (our story-inspired exit tickets)

  • Extension activities for when you have more time or want to go deeper

Whether you use one lesson or build an entire unit, everything is designed to support you without adding more to your plate.

How Can You Use Storybook SEL?

The School Counselor

I get it, we’re not actually living in a Disney park (tragic, honestly). And not every lesson can be Disney-themed. But what if one could be? Many counselors teach weekly lessons, so why not make one lesson each month your “Storybook Spotlight”? It becomes something students look forward to, while still delivering meaningful SEL content.

Or, if you’re ready to lean all the way in (highly recommend ), use Volume 1 or Volume 2 as a themed unit: “Magic in a Month” Perfect for end-of-year energy, when everyone needs a reset and something engaging.

The Teacher

SEL isn’t just for the counseling office, it lives in every classroom. If you’re a teacher, try starting your week with “Magical Mondays.”  One lesson can help set the tone for the entire week, building community, reflection, and connection right from the start.

The Parent

We’re already watching these movies so why not make them a little more meaningful?

Storybook SEL lessons are a great way to guide conversations at home about emotions, choices, and relationships. Turn it into a family movie night: watch the movie, use the discussion questions, add a themed snack or meal (because obviously). It’s connection, learning, and memory-making all in one.

Final Chapter

You can find Storybook SEL in the Resources Section. Creating Storybook SEL has truly been a passion project, and I hope these lessons bring just as much joy and impact to your students (and your own experience) as they have to mine. If you use them, I would love to hear how it goes, your feedback means everything!
